50 Things you Should Know About Our Economy.

The U.S. economy was once the greatest economic machine in modern history.  It was truly a wonder to behold. It worked so well that entire generations of Americans came to believe that America would enjoy boundless prosperity indefinitely. It was that optimism which I believe is a hindrance to Americans today. Many are not paying attention or think that somehow it will all turn around in the end. I know this because I speak to family and friends about the economic problems our country is facing, but all I get is worried expressions that last about a minute, then it’s back to the mundane routines of life.

Facts speak for themselves. It is a fact that none of the systemic problems that contributed to the 2008 collapse have been fixed. Mark Mobius, the head of the emerging markets desk at Templeton Asset Management, was recently was quoted in Forbes Magazine as saying the following: “There is definitely going to be another financial crisis around the corner because we haven’t solved any of the things that caused the previous crisis.”  He makes that statement because the financial reforms law that President Barack Obama and the Democrat Congress passed a while back was a complete and total joke. Laws to make us feel good that SOMETHING was getting done on our behalf but do nothing to fix the problems.

Meanwhile on Mainstreet economic woes continue, job losses continue but STILL the people slumber. Continued prosperity is not guaranteed for any nation, and yet the people continue to believe everything will be ok.  In past several decades, some very alarming long-term economic trends have developed that are absolutely destroying the economy.  If dramatic changes are not made soon, a complete and total economic collapse will be unavoidable. Unfortunately, American people will never agree to the changes needed to our economic and financial systems without fully understanding what is causing the problems we are in.  We have turned our backs on the economic principles which work. Ignored the warning signs, and rejected wisdom handed down to us by the founding fathers of our nation..

You’ve heard it before ‘those who sow to the wind, shall reap the whirlwind.’ We are going deeper into an economic whirlwind brought upon us by people who we trusted in political office to act on our behalf. It didn’t start with this President but I think the continued spending by this administration is the catalyst which will take us over the edge.  Here are some things to know:

#1 Do you remember how much was made of the “Misery Index” during the presidency of Jimmy Carter?  At that time, the “Misery Index” was constantly making headlines in newspapers all across the country.  Well, according to John Williams of Shadow Government Statistics, if we calculated unemployment and inflation the same way that we did during the Carter administration, then the Misery Index today would actually be higher than at any point during the presidency of Jimmy Carter.

#2 According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, an average of about 5 million Americans were being hired every single month during 2006.  Today, an average of about 3.5 million Americans are being hired every single month.

#3 According to the Wall Street Journal, there are 5.5 million Americans that are currently unemployed and yet are not receiving unemployment benefits.

#4 All over America, state and local governments are selling off buildings just to pay the bills.  Investors can now buy up government-owned power plants, prisons and municipal buildings from coast to coast. For example, the mayor of Newark, New Jersey recently sold off 16 government buildings (including the police and fire headquarters) just to pay some bills.

#5 When Americans think of “government debt”, most of them only think of the federal government, but it is not just the federal government that has a massive debt problem.  State and local government debt has reached an all-time high of22 percent of U.S. GDP.

#6 If you can believe it, one out of every seven Americans  has at least 10 credit cards.

#7 Credit card usage in the United States is on the increase once again.  During the month of March, revolving consumer credit jumped 2.9%.  Sadly, it looks like Americans have not learned their lessons about the dangers of credit card debt.

#8 Last year, Social Security ran a deficit for the first time since 1983, and the “Social Security deficits” in future years are projected to be absolutely horrific.

#9 The U.S. government now says that the Medicare trust fund will run out five years faster than they were projecting just last year.

#10 Right now we are watching what could potentially be the worst Mississippi River flood ever recorded play out right in front of our eyes.  One agricultural economist at Mississippi State University believes that this disaster could do 2 billion dollars of damage just to farms alone.

#11 The “tornadoes of 2011” that we just saw in the southeast United States are being called the worst natural disaster that the U.S. has seen since Hurricane Katrina.  It has been estimated that up to 25 percent of all of the poultry houses in Alabama were either significantly damaged or destroyed.  It is also believed that millions of birds were killed.

#12 The economic effects of the BP oil spill just seem to go on and on and on.  The number of very sick fish in the Gulf of Mexico is really starting to alarm scientists.  The following is how one local newspaper recently described the situation….

Scientists are alarmed by the discovery of unusual numbers of fish in the Gulf of Mexico and inland waterways with skin lesions, fin rot, spots, liver blood clots and other health problems.

#13 The number of “low income jobs” in the U.S. has risen steadily over the past 30 years and they now account for 41 percent of all jobs in the United States.

#14 All over America, hospitals that care for the poor and needy are so overwhelmed and are so broke that they are being forced to shut down.  Recently a local newspaper in Florida ran an article about two prominent charity hospitals in Illinois that have served the poor for more than 100 years but are now asking for permission to shut down….

Two charity hospitals in Illinois are facing a life-or-death decision. There’s not much left of either of them – one in Chicago’s south suburbs, the other in impoverished East St. Louis – aside from emergency rooms crowded with patients seeking free care. Now they would like the state’s permission to shut down.

#15 The U.S. dollar is in such bad shape that now even Steve Forbes is predicting that the U.S. is “likely” to go back to a gold standard within the next five years.

#16 Most Americans don’t realize how much the U.S. dollar has been devalued over the years.  An item that cost $20.00 in 1970 would cost you $115.93 today.  An item that cost $20.00 in 1913 would cost you $454.36 today.

#17 Over the past 12 months the average price of gasoline in the United States has gone up by about 30%.

#18 U.S. oil companies will bring in about $200 billion in pre-tax profits this year.  They will also receive about $4.4 billion in specialized tax breaks from the U.S. government.

#19 It is being projected that for the first time ever, the OPEC nations are going to bring in over a trillion dollars from exporting oil this year.  Their biggest customer is the United States.

#20 According to the Pentagon, there are minerals worth over a trillion dollars under the ground in Afghanistan.  Now, J.P. Morgan is starting to tap those riches with the help of the U.S. military.

#21 Speaking of J.P. Morgan, most Americans don’t realize that they are actually the largest processor of food stamp benefits in the United States.  In fact, the more Americans that go on food stamps the more money that J.P. Morgan makes.

#22 When 2007 began, there were about 26 million Americans on food stamps.  Today, there are over 44 million on food stamps, and one out of every four American children is on food stamps.

#23 Back in 1965, only one out of every 50 Americans was on Medicaid.  Today, one out of every 6 Americans is on Medicaid.

#24 Only 66.8% of American men had a job last year.  That was the lowest level that has ever been recorded in all of U.S. history.

#25 The financial system is more vulnerable today than it was back in 2008 before the financial panic. Today, the world financial system has been turned into a giant financial casino where bets are made on just about anything you can possibly imagine, and the major Wall Street banks make a ton of money from this betting system.  The system is largely unregulated (the new “Wall Street reform” law has only changed this slightly) and it is totally dominated by the big international banks. The danger from derivatives is so great that Warren Buffet once called them “financial weapons of mass destruction”. It is estimated that the “derivatives bubble” is somewhere in the neighborhood of a quadrillion dollars, and once it pops there isn’t going to be enough money in the entire world to bail everyone out.

#26 Between December 2000 and December 2010, the United States ran a total trade deficit of 6.1 trillion dollars with the rest of the world, and the U.S. has had a negative trade balance every single year since 1976.

#27 The United States has lost an average of 50,000 manufacturing jobs per month since China joined the World Trade Organization in 2001, and the U.S. trade deficit with China is now 27 times larger than it was back in 1990.

#28 In 2010, the number one U.S. export to China was “scrap and trash”.

#29 All over the United States, many of our once great manufacturing cities are being transformed into hellholes.  In the city of Detroit today, there are over 33,000 abandoned houses, 70 schools are being permanently closed down, the mayor wants to bulldoze one-fourth of the city and you can literally buy a house for one dollar in the worst areas.

#30 During the first three months of this year, less new homes were sold in the U.S. than in any three month period ever recorded.

#31 New home sales in the United States are now down 80% from the peak in July 2005.

#32 America’s real estate crisis just seems to get worse and worse.  U.S. home prices have now fallen a whopping 33% from where they were at during the peak of the housing bubble.

#33 According to a new report from the AFL-CIO, the average CEO made 343 times more money than the average American did last year.

#34 The European debt crisis could cause a global financial collapse like the one that we saw in 2008 at any time.  The world economy is incredibly interconnected today, and the United States would not be immune.  A recent IMF report stated the following about the growing sovereign debt crisis in Europe….

Strong policy responses have successfully contained the sovereign debt and financial-sector troubles in the euro area periphery so far. But contagion to the core euro area and then onward to emerging Europe remains a tangible risk.

#35 According to one study, the 50 U.S. state governments are collectively 3.2 trillion dollars short of what they need to meet their pension obligations.

#36 A different study has shown that individual Americans are $6.6 trillion short of what they need to retire comfortably.

#37 The cost of college tuition in the United States has gone up by over 900 percent since 1978.

#38 According to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, health care costs accounted for just 9.5% of all personal consumption back in 1980.  Today they account for approximately 16.3%.

#39 One study found that approximately 41 percent of working age Americans either have medical bill problems or are currently paying off medical debt.

#40 The combined debt of the major GSEs (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and Sallie Mae) has increased from 3.2 trillion in 2008 to 6.4 trillion in 2011.  Thanks to our politicians, U.S. taxpayers are standing behind that debt.

#41 The U.S. government is over 14 trillion dollars in debt and the budget deficit for this year is projected to be about 1.5 trillion dollars.  However, if the U.S. government was forced to use GAAP accounting principles (like all publicly-traded corporations must), the U.S. government budget deficit would be somewhere in the neighborhood of $4 trillion to $5 trillion each and every year.

#42 Most Americans don’t understand that the Federal Reserve and the debt-based monetary system that it runs are at the very heart of our economic problems.  All of this debt is absolutely crushing us.  The U.S. government spentover 413 billion dollars on interest on the national debt during fiscal 2010, and it is being projected that the U.S. government will be shelling out 900 billion dollars just in interest on the national debt by the year 2019.

#43 Standard & Poor has altered its outlook on U.S. government debt from “stable” to “negative” and has lowered the U.S credit rating from AAA to AA

#44 In 1980, government transfer payments accounted for just 11.7% of all income.  Today, government transfer payments account for 18.4% of all income.

#45 U.S. households are now receiving more income from the U.S. governmentthan they are paying to the government in taxes.

#46 59 percent of all Americans now receive money from the federal government in one form or another.

#47 According to Gallup, 41 percent of Americans believed that the economy was “getting better” at this time last year.  Today, that number is at just 27 percent.

#48 The wealthiest 1% of all Americans now own more than a third of all the wealth in the United States.

#49 The poorest 50% of all Americans collectively own just 2.5% of all the wealth in the United States.

#50 The percentage of millionaires in Congress is more than 50 times higher than the percentage of millionaires in the general population.

You can help make A difference By sharing these articles On Facebook, Twitter. It’s time for Americans  not to just stand up and take notice but to become involved in their government. We must hold our leaders accountable. The thing they fear most is not YOU losing your jobs or they would have worked night and day to fix this economy.  The thing our politicians fear most is losing their jobs. It has become increasingly clear to me the Teaparty movement is powerful.  Join a local chapter today.  You have the power, now use it.

The New Democrat, By Dr. Truth

A Parody in celebration of the

Tea Party Movement.

The sun did not shine. The Iraq war dragged on.

Our once great economy was almost all gone.

I sat there with Franklin. We sat there, we two.

I wished, at that moment, for somebody new.

The “big tent” Republicans kept expanding the state.

And the health of our country was quite far from great.

So all we could do was to

FRET

FRET

FRET

FRET!

We did not like Bush! Didn’t care whom we’d get!

CHANGE!!!!

someone yelled! “CHANGE” Oh How that “change” sounded strange.

We looked at the TV, and saw him thereat.

WE LOOKED, and we saw him A NEW DEMOCRAT!

He said to us “Why are you frowning like that?”

“I know you are poor, and the outlook’s not sunny,

But we can have fun with OTHER PEOPLE’S MONEY!

“I know some good games we could play” said the cat

I know some good tricks” said this new Democrat

“We can bail out the banks.” I’ll find the money with ease.

We can borrow it all from our friends the Chinese”

Then Franklin and I did not know what to say.

The voters don’t want to be governed this way.

Then Glenn Beck said “NO, NO!” Make that fool go away!

Tell that Democrat cat that your grandkids will pay

his profligate of spending..

His lust for power and pelf..

He’s not helping you .

He cares for himself!”

“Now! Now! Have no fear” said the agent of ‘hope’

“My plans are not bad, now stop saying “NOPE”

We can stimulate everyone, If only you let.

with a game that I call

up

Up

UP with the DEBT!”

“cut that out said old Glenn. This is not a good plan.

You can’t bring prosperity to a country or a man,

by just handing out cash when there’s nothing produced!

Only when the power of production is loosed

can you hope to give our economy a BOOST!”

“Let’s be clear”, said the cat

I know what to do.

I’ll take over GM

and then Chrysler too!

Then the people who make

the post office so fast

will make you new car,

Since your old one won’t last!

With my ‘cash for clunkers,’

You’ll be paid to destroy

You’re old SUV,

So that we can employ

More union workers

Whose votes aren’t in doubt,

And when it all falls apart,

We’ll just BAIL THEM OUT!”

“I can change all the things that once made us great.

And if you disagree

Why, you’re just filled with hate!

“Yes, I’ll pay for my votes with the money I tax.

But that is not all I do!

just sit back and relax….

I’ll build myself up, and make America small.

But that is not all!

No, that is not all!

“I’ll make friends with our enemies.

They’ll do us no harm….

If they see we are weak.

We must therefore disarm!

“I’ll grovel to dictators

And bow to their kings.

Who cares about dignity?

I’ll just kiss their rings!”

“Look at me! Look at me NOW!!

It’s fun to win prizes, but you have to know how

So I got the Nobel without doing a thing!

Then ran out of town,

skipping lunch with the King.”

“Since they all hate George Bush, so they voted for me.

The same as you all.

Now we’ll see what will be…

Pussy Cat, Pussy Cat

Where have you been?

“Sending an ipod…

A gift for the Queen!”

“Now let me be clear, It’s not just us that I hate.

But also our allies,

who thought we were great

Before I came to power.

So that means they’re bad!

And they better not make

My friends, the dictators, mad!

Cause we don’t need allies anymore.

Don’t you see? All that America now needs is ME!”

BOY, Glenn was angry! His collar was hot!

He said “Do I like this?

Oh, NO! I do not!

“Now look at what you’ve done!” said old Glenn to the cat.

“Look at our country!

It’s being laughed at!”

“Your stimulus plan

Has made things much worse

Our whole economy is now in reverse!”

“We’re so deep in debt

That we’ll never get out.

And you’ve emboldened our enemies!

We have no more clout.”

Our founding fathers

would turn in their graves,

If they could see now

How their successors behaves.

“Who would stay on this course,

As our country derails?!?

I can only just pray and hope that he fails!”

“But I like what I’m doing Oh I like it a lot!

And I’m just fulfilling

What Alinsky has taught.”

“I don’t wish to stop in fact, I’ll do more!” Said the new Democrat

As he rushed to the door, then he ran our and came back with

a box. It was painted all red. With a couple of locks.

“Now see whats in here said the cat with a SMIRK.

I’ve got some small friends to help with my work”

Then he unlocked the locks, and out came his crew.

“Perhaps you should meet them it’s

DEM ONE, and DEM TWO

Well, Franklin and I could not think what to do.

and the looked pretty harmless,

That Dem One and Dem Two.

But Glenn Beck yelled!

“NO! NO! this cannot be we can’t trust our freedoms to this radical pair.

We must vote them out! Said Glenn Beck near despair.

“Now here is a game that I like said the Cat. “I want to run healthcare

And chip away at

your freedom of choice

Now please don’t protest

because I know what’s best!”

Of course it might mean that grandma must go,

Our friendly death panel will be letting you know”

But their plan was no popular. so guess what they’ll do? Dem1 and Dem 2…

They’ll be bribing your leaders to vote against you!

“No! Not our Healthcare!” said Glenn Beck from his post

“without freedom there, our whole country is toast!”

“Our doctors will then be enslaved to the state

with government bureaucrats deciding our fate!”

Debbie Wasserman-Schultz “You’re FIRED!”

I went to the CPAC of Florida (Conservative Political Action Conference) and the Presidency 5 of FL both held at the Orlando Convention Center in Orlando, Florida this past weekend. Of all the candidates I heard speak, and of all I saw this past weekend nothing caught my attention more than a booth which advocated firing Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz. You may ask yourself who is she and why do we want to fire her? I’m glad you asked, but first here is a little background on Wasserman-Schultz.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz  (born September 27, 1966) is the U.S. Representative for Florida’s 20th congressional district, serving since 2005. She is a member of the Democratic Party and the Chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee. She previously served in theFlorida House of Representatives  and theFlorida Senate. She is the first Jewish Congresswoman ever elected from Florida.[3] This district covers parts of Broward and Miami-Dade Counties, including the cities of Fort Lauderdale and Miami Beach, and ever since her election she has proven to be one of the most divisive and insulting members of her party. If it is true Prsident Obama wants to “get along” and “tone down the retoric in Washington” then appointing Rep Wasserman-Schultz did nothing to accomplish that goal.

Wasserman-Schultz constantly berates other members of congress, and uses class war fare whenever possible where she attacks opponents of the other party not for what they stand for but for imaginary wrongs. An example is her stand against the investigations of Planned Parenthood. This after Planned Parenthood was caught over and over again breaking the law by a couple of students. The students posed as a pimp and a prostitute looking for an abortion, furthermore the students claimed the girl needing the abortion was under age. As you might remember this story got much national attention. The public outcry for an investigation of Planned Parenthood was unprecedented except on the left where they refused to acknowledge that given the current expose exposing Planned Parenthood’s illegal activity; continuing to fund Planned Parenthood with taxpayer public funds would be immoral.  Instead Wasserman-Schultz accused Republican colleagues of launching a burdensome and politically motivated, big-government investigation of Planned Parenthood.  No Debbie it’s called accountability.

Her assertions that Planned Parenthood provides a service for Cancer screenings and screenings of STD’s ignores the facts that those services are available on medicare for the poor and indigent we don’t need Planned Parenthood to do that work.  (original comments by Wasserman here ) A debate between Wasserman-Schults and Representative Paul Ryan (R) on whether or not Obamacare funds taxpayer abortions can be found here. Clearly she is again on the wrong side of an issue.

Wasserman-Schultz has also made such comments as: “CNN’s Wolf Blitzer was wrong to say that ” the wealthiest Americans, they pay the most in taxes already — 50 percent of Americans don’t even pay any federal income tax.”

note: On Sept. 13, 2011, we checked Wasserman’s Schultz’s claim that “it’s not true that 50 percent of Americans don’t even pay any federal income tax.” She is wrong, it is a false statement by Wasserman-Schultz. CNN’s Wolf Blitzer’s statement that 50 % of the population don’t pay federal income taxes is right. Further more in 1972 only 14% of the American population did not pay federal income taxes. (source)

It seems since President Obama has appointed Wasserman-Schultz the Chair of the DNC her statements have become even more ridiculous and divisive. An example of her unintelligent statements include: ” Republicans believe illegal immigration should be a crime” and she has also said Republicans are trying to make crossing the border by illegals, a crime” What? Do I have to point out the operative word here is ILLEGAL?

Her entire career she has spent it in front of the camera on news programs bashing republicans. Recently Representative

Col. Allen West (R) of FL. had words with her and said this in an e-mail, he called her “the most vile, unprofessional, and despicable member of the US House of Representatives.” He concluded: “You have proven repeatedly that you are not a Lady, therefore, shall not be afforded due respect from me!” He said an apology was “not happening” the e-mailto Schultz and members of both houses had on the subject line: “Unprofessional and Inappropriate Sophomoric Behavior from Wasserman-Schultz.”

OFFERING AN ALTERNATIVE:

I won’t waste anymore time in explaining why Wasserman-Schultz needs to go. A simple google of her name and you can find all her rhetoric. I do want to on the other hand introduce you to a candidate I had the good pleasure of meeting. His name is Joe Kauffman.

Republican candidate for United States Congress, Joe Kaufman, who is looking to unseat Wasserman Schultz in November 2012, stated “Americans and Floridians are suffering, jobs are scarce, food and gas prices are way too high, and the country is preparing to face another natural disaster. What the President and his assistant Debbie’s response? A Massachusetts vacation!

Joe Kauffman was responding to the fact that while the economy is tanking, and people are struggling especially in Florida, President Obama has been hitting the golf course, and Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, his number one cheerleader, has been heading up various fundraisers for the President, under the title ˜Voices for Obama. ” Clearly these people are out of control, and out of touch. We need representatives in Washington who acknowleadge the hard times Florida is going through. Representatives with real ideas, and solutions. I had an opportunity to hear him speak and I was very impressed. I encourage all my friends and anyone who reads this story to please donate to Joe Kauffman and FIRE Debbie Wasserman-Schultz. Is the TeaParty Between a Rock & a Hard Place?

It is evident to me now; a TeaParty candidate is not necessarily going to be a Republican candidate. A TeaParty candidate  is different from many of the Republicans we have in office now. I consider myself to be a proponent of the TeaParty movement. I am more conservative than are my Republican leaders. I think a TRUE Republican is a conservative through and through . Some TeaPartiers have now been called Neocons meaning New Conservatives, and Libertarians as in Ron Paul supporters. If that isn’t an oxymoron I don’t know what is. It can’t be new AND conservative. To be a true Conservative is to adhere to the classics as in the rule of law, as in the United States Constitution, on social moral issues, and on an economic financial platform of less government. Some in the TeaParty movement have become staunch Ron Paul supporters. Ron Paul is not a friend to Israel. I cannot personally support him. He is not a TeaParty man. He is a Libertarian. Those Libertarian ideas go too far. I believe as the founding fathers believed there is a place for SOME government in our lives just not where we are now.  Rolling back government where the Libertarians would have us go is to return to the days of the early 1800′s in America where orphan’s roamed the streets begging for bread. I do not however believe in the Roosevelt model of welfare and social services for everyone.

There is a middle ground and it is the TRUE TEAPARTY PATRIOT. I guess this is why they call it being between a rock and a hard place, but we must stay UNITED, another hurdle. If you agree or disagree makes no difference to me. This is my opinion about the matter regarding the future of the TeaParty; United we stand, divided we fall. If we are to win the election against Barack Obama we must remain UNITED we stand. We must find a uni-fer and cling to that person. We must find someone who best exemplifies our ideals which are the ideals of the founding fathers. If you are calling yourself a TeaPatry person but believe in too much government, or contemporary moral values; or if you believe ALL government should be abolished then sorry you are not a TeaPartier. Perhaps you need to look to the original Teaparty movement of 1773 then determine for yourselves…ask yourself “Am I really a believer of the Teaparty platform?” To be or not to be a TeaPartier that is the question.  21

Remember to post your own comments on my website as well as on facebook. I am interested to hear what you have to say about this. Am I wrong?

Budget Battle Tests Boehner’s Resolve to Get Things Done. Did He Pass?

Yesterday my facebook wall was on fire with Teaparty members disagreeing about  Fridays’ last minute deal. Some believed there were wins. While others were not so happy with what was passed, but all agreed it was good the military gets paid on time.  I think it is also good to point out there was a bit of progress made. After all; the history of offers on this bill went like this: “Democrats first offered no cuts, then $4 billion, then $6.5 billion, then $33 billion, then settled at $38.5 billion.”

and although it did not defund Obamacare,  or Planned Parenthood some felt it was a start.

Another fb friend said “We could find 100′s of millions more to cut, and I have no doubt, if we controlled the senate as well as the house more cuts would have happened. But everyone has to understand, we control a little over 1/2 of the House. We have a minority in the Senate. And we have a Democratic White House. Of all the gains we made in the last election, we are still in a bad position, with limited options. Be careful what you ask for. A government shutdown wouldn’t have been the end of the world, but it would have cost us more money, and everyone would have felt effects from it. Keep the pressure on, and move slowly, and carefully back in the right direction “

In an almost an apologetic manner facebookers offered up:  “that when you only control a little over one half of one third, we did pretty good getting with what we did. “  Oh yeah? Lets wait and see if you still feel that way at the end of this article. Before I tell you how I really feel shall we examine the record for ourselves? What exactly did this CR accomplish?

  • Our military will get paid. We COULD NOT let our military not get paid. Their first check would’ve been delayed, their next check would be stopped until another deal was made.

  • This was a bipartisan agreement on spending cuts to support American job creation.

  • It is the LARGEST SPENDING CUT IN AMERICAN HISTORY. This agreement immediately cuts $38.5 billion in federal spending – the largest spending cut in American history in terms of dollars – just months after President Obama asked Congress for a spending “freeze” that would mean zero cuts.
  • There are HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS IN SPENDING CUTS which happen save money for the American people. This agreement will cut hundreds of billions of dollars from the federal budget over the next decade – “real money,” as the Wall Street Journal editorial board recently noted.
  • It officially ends the “STIMULUS” SPENDING BINGE. This agreement begins to reverse the “stimulus” spending binge that began in 2009
  • This agreement also signals the official end of a period of unprecedented government intervention that former Federal Reserve Board Chairman Alan Greenspan and other economists say hurt job creation in America by crowding out private investment.
  • It set the stage for trillions more in spending cuts because it clears the way for congressional action on House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan’s budget – ‘The Path to Prosperity’ – and that in turn cuts trillions in spending and offers a long-term blueprint for American job creation.
  • It guarantees a senate vote on the repeal of Obamacare. The agreement reached with Senate Democrats guarantees a Senate debate and vote on legislation that would repeal President Obama’s government takeover of health care in its entirety. The House passed such legislation in January as part of the Pledge to America.
  • NEW TOOLS IN THE FIGHT TO REPEAL OBAMACARE. This CR will generate new tools for the fight to repeal Obamacare by requiring numerous studies that will force the Obama Administration to reveal the true impact of the law’s mandates, including a study of how individuals and families will see increased premiums as a result of certain Obamacare mandates; they would have to reveal in a full audit all of the waivers that the Obama Administration has given to firms and organizations – including unions – who can’t meet the new annual coverage limits.
  • a full audit of what’s happening with the comparative effectiveness research funding that was in Obamacare and the president’s failed “stimulus” spending bill; and a report on all of the contractors who have been hired to implement the law and the costs to taxpayers of such contracts.
  • It denies additional funding to the IRS:  The Obama administration has sought increased federal funding for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) – money that could be used to hire additional agents to enforce the administration’s agenda on a variety of issues. This increased funding is denied in this recent agreement.
  • It guarantees a senate vote & debate on DE-FUNDING PLANNED PARENTHOOD.  We are talking about a Senate debate and vote on legislation that would end federal funding for Planned Parenthood.
  • BANS TAXPAYER FUNDING OF ABORTION IN THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA. The agreement includes a complete ban on federal funding of abortion in the District of Columbia, applying the pro-life principles of the Hyde Amendment (“D.C. Hyde”).
  • There is also mandatory audits of the new job crushing bureaucracy set up under Senators Dodd-Frank. The agreement subjects the so-called Consumer Financial Protection Bureau created by the job-destroying Dodd-Frank law to yearly audits by both the private sector and the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to monitor its impact on the economy, including its impact on jobs, by examining whether sound cost-benefit analyses are being used with rule makings.

This is My Two cents:

All this sounds like good news and it is however If I were to define Speaker Boehner’s performance I would have to say he was too meek.  In case you need help understanding what that means; I will attempt to define meek for you. Meek is not a word we use much in the American English language.  It’s meaning is power under control or power which refuses to exert itself on another.  Jesus Christ was meek by choice, out of love. He had all the power to do what he wanted but he did not use it.  John Boehner was too meek, and what a disappointment he was to many of us yesterday.  I am not trying to compare the Republican Speaker of the House John Boehner to Jesus Christ.  Jesus meekness is a virtue while for Boehner it is not. Boehner in meekness to the Democrats actually reveals his inadequacy as a leader. Another thing to consider is although there is much good in Paul Ryan’s budget proposal; it won’t pass in its’ original version either because it takes down Obamacare and we’ve seen a preview of the future with the past weeks budget battle. There was a standoff and the republicans in the House blinked.

I agree with you we had to pass something to pay our military and the CR in itself does a lot of good but Boehner had the wrong disposition to begin with. Have you ever watched a standoff? Show even a HINT of weakness and you are done. Boehner used words which reflect his willingness to compromise not just this past week but during the history of his leadership

Let’s face it Boehner is a career politician. Without term limits these politicians worry too much about losing their jobs. Boehner needs to understand his compromise on Planned Parenthood WILL cause him to lose his job. The CR is not such a bad deal. You have to look closely to see where the trouble is, when you do then you see what he did was tip his hand. It’s symbolic of his willingness to give in,  He actually said “this is the BEST we could do” no Mr. Speaker, this is just the same ole way of thinking and you disappoint me sir. I did not put you in power so you could let me down again, and THAT is what is unforgivable and the reason so many are up in arms.
